Sexton Blake (band)
Sexton Blake is a band based in Portland, Oregon. They are signed to the independent record label Expunged Records. Fronted by singer-guitarist Josh Hodges, other instruments include keyboard, drums, and bass. They were featured on the album to: Elliott, from: Portland, a tribute album to Portland singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, performing the song "Rose Parade".[1] The Washington Post described Sexton Blake's version as "faithful to the original's fragile aesthetic, if not [the] exact sound."[2] Their full-length, self-titled album was recorded in New York City, by Josh Hodges, who then moved to Portland and started the band by the same name.[3] Their second album, Plays the Hits!, was released in July 2007.[4] The album consists entirely of cover songs from the 1980s,[5] an idea that was first proposed to Hodges by Expunged Records founder Anthony Davis.[6] The mastermind behind the band, Josh Hodges, is also in the Portland band Starfucker along with Ryan Bjornstad. Starfucker has released two full albums also with Expunged Records.
